24 MAY 2017 – At the 70th World Health Assembly in Geneva, high-level representatives from governments, multilaterals, donor agencies, philanthropic groups and civil society organizations committed to work together with renewed urgency to achieve universal health coverage by becoming UHC2030 signatories.

UHC2030 is a new multi-stakeholder platform co-led by the World Health Organization and the World Bank Group that promotes collaborative working at global and country levels on health systems strengthening, as outlined in their joint vision for healthy lives. All UHC2030 signatories support building and expanding equitable, resilient and sustainable health systems, funded primarily by public finance and based on primary health care.

UHC2030 recaps the global compact signing ceremony, which welcomed eight new signatories, launched a joint vision paper and featured high-level keynote speeches and panel discussions.

In a blog piece, The Rockefeller Foundation’s Michael Myers calls the World Health Assembly “an inflection point in the movement to achieve universal health coverage” and discusses other “signals that the world is coming together to deliver on the promise of UHC.”
